Poem: Your
Feet are Like Animals
Your feet are like animals
though the rest of you be human
your toes cling from balcony bars
your feet burrow into carpet,
throwing
clumps by the wayside.
They pretend to be so rational
while tearing up the furniture.
I told you not to scratch there
but the feet won’t listen.
Instead they fight among themselves for the sunny spot under the
windowsill.
They fool you with their soft leather shoes,
the
serious laces
&
the strappy sandals, on narrow pillars.
They look so clean, so pink
while they kick holes in patio doors,
See them click down office halls
on their way to 9 o’clock meetings.
You’d never guess.
But by the way you sit in that chair
I can tell your feet are like animals, though the rest of you be
human.
